Blinn competed in three tournaments this season which featured region opponents, and a region champion and all-region team were determined by a composite score of five and a half rounds.

All-region selections for the Bucs were Van MillerCameron GrayHunter McDonough, and Carson Wray. Miller was also named the regional medalist with a composite score of 406, while Gray (408), McDonough (409), and Wray (414) finished second, third, and fifth in the region.

“The team had a really good year. We won three tournaments during the regular season, and to add a regional championship to that is awesome,” Blinn head coach David Johnson said. “I couldn’t be prouder of the way everyone competed for each other as individuals to allow us to have great success. To have four of the five all-region team members was impressive.”

During the fall and spring seasons, Blinn placed first in three tournaments beginning with the Tyler Junior College Fall Invitational last September. In March, the Bucs captured the Tyler Spring Invitational in early March before finishing the month with a victory at the Centenary/Hal Sutton Invitational.

The Bucs just missed the cut for the NJCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship after finishing eighth at the District 2 Championship tournament on April 26. The top two teams from the district tournament received automatic bids. A four-person vote from coaches representing the NJCAA’s four districts combined with the final rankings from GolfStat.com provided a composite score that determined which teams would earn three remaining at-large bids. Blinn missed qualifying by one point.

“We played really well down the stretch, there were just a few other teams that played better,” Johnson said. “That’s just the way golf goes sometimes. It’s tough, but I’m proud of our guys either way.”

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
