The 12th-ranked Blinn College men’s golf team delivered a strong performance at the SouthCentral District Championship, finishing 2-over par and tying for fourth place at the two-day tournament in San Antonio.
Fourth-ranked McLennan Community College secured the team title with an impressive 19-under-par finish in a competitive field of 13 teams.
Blinn was led by standout performances from sophomore Ben Potter and freshman Broc Talamantez, who each finished 3-under par and tied for seventh place. Their efforts marked a milestone for the program, as they became the first Blinn golfers to earn top-10 finishes at the district tournament.
Sophomores Cody Peters and Jaxon Daniele also contributed to the team’s success, tying for 19th place at 4-over par. The tournament featured a total of 76 golfers competing across three rounds.
With the district championship complete, Blinn now turns its attention to the NJCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship selection. The Buccaneers are seeking their fifth national tournament appearance in program history and a second consecutive berth, with an at-large bid appearing likely.
Blinn also recently finished as the Region 14 runner-up to No. 8 Tyler Junior College. The regional title was decided over five rounds of play across two tournaments, including the East Texas State Championship on April 20.
Potter and Talamantez earned additional recognition for their performances, being named to the Region 14 All-Tournament Team.
Blinn College has a long-standing athletic tradition, competing in intercollegiate sports since 1903 and capturing 53 national championships since 1987.
