The Blinn District Engineering Department has scheduled a series of virtual information sessions for students interested in Blinn’s Associate of Science Degree in Engineering, the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn-Brenham, and Texas A&M Engineering at Blinn.

Engineering remains a high-demand profession, both nationally and throughout the State of Texas. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, almost 140,000 new engineering jobs are expected to be created between 2016 and 2026. Engineers are employed in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, engineering services, government, scientific research and development, construction, and computer systems design. Due to their valuable skills and high demand, engineers earn a median annual wage of $91,010 – more than twice the median wage for all workers.

Offered on the RELLIS and Brenham campuses, Blinn’s Associate of Science Degree in Engineering provides the general education, mathematics, and science courses normally taken in the first two years of an engineering program at a four-year college or university while providing the flexibility for individual interests.

Students who complete the Associate of Science degree are prepared for transfer to the state’s leading four-year engineering programs, including Texas A&M University-Texarkana’s Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Tarleton State University’s Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology at the RELLIS Campus.

The Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn-Brenham provides talented students an opportunity to pursue their engineering degree while co-enrolled at Texas A&M University and the Blinn College District. Engineering Academy at Blinn-Brenham students take their math, science, and engineering courses on the Brenham Campus together while living as a community in Blinn residential housing.

Texas A&M College of Engineering faculty teach Texas A&M engineering courses for Academy students on the Brenham Campus, providing a world-class engineering education with unparalleled convenience. Students who successfully complete the program with a minimum 3.75 grade point average at Blinn and Texas A&M earn automatic admission to their first-choice engineering major at Texas A&M.

Texas A&M Engineering at Blinn is a unique program in which the Texas A&M University Office of Admissions invites qualified candidates who express an interest in an engineering major the opportunity to co-enroll with the Texas A&M University College of Engineering and Blinn College. Students in the program take their Texas A&M courses on the Texas A&M campus and their Blinn courses at the RELLIS Campus in Bryan. Those who successfully complete the program with a minimum 3.75 grade point average at Blinn and Texas A&M earn automatic admission to their first-choice engineering major. The only way to participate in Texas A&M Engineering at Blinn is to apply to Texas A&M and indicate an interest in an engineering major.
