The National Esports Collegiate Conference victory improved the fifth-ranked Buccaneers to 5-1 overall and kept Blinn in second place in the South Division. 

Competing for the Bucs were sophomore Austin Ray and freshmen Hayden WhitakerKhanh DeweyShawn Fox, and Adam Laamoumi.

The Bucs also earned a victory in Overwatch play, sweeping Stone Child College 3-0 in a National Association of Collegiate Esports tilt. 

Starting for Blinn were sophomores Gabriel LopezWilliam RossleyWilliam Bowman, and George Francis, as well as freshman Ezekiel Bernheim. Sophomore Aaron Lazo was subbed into the match in the third round as the Bucs improved to 5-0.

The victory keeps the Bucs tied for first place with Boise State University in the West-Central Conference.

Also Monday, Blinn’s Rocket League team dropped a 3-2 decision to West Virginia University.

Blinn is now 4-1 on the year.

The Bucs fell behind 2-0 through the first two rounds but evened the tilt before falling short.

Sophomore Cade Mock teamed with freshmen Jodan Johnson and Andrew Askins in the match.

Overwatch will take on Boise State University at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, and face Missouri State University-West Plains at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28.

Blinn’s Super Smash Bros squad takes on Mid-American Christian University 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The Blinn Valorant team will play its next match when it meets Rogers State University Red at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. Rocket League will compete against the University of Missouri-Columbia at 6 p.m. and the University of Central Missouri at 7:30 p.m., also Oct. 31.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
