The Blinn College esports team earned a pair of victories in the NJCAA Esports Call of Duty Super Regional Playoffs on Tuesday.

The Buccaneers swept Glen Oaks Community College in the quarterfinal round and the University of South Carolina-Sumter in the semifinals. Blinn won both tilts 3-0 in best-of-five play.

Competing for the victories Bucs were David RodriguezWesley KingLandon Campos, and Logan Rivera.

“We’ve struggled really hard the last few weeks in practice, with us barely being able to win a single map in scrimmages,” Blinn assistant coach and Call of Duty manager Ryan Lucich said. “The players really brought the energy today and implemented many changes that we have discussed and reviewed. I think if we can continue to get back into form, we have a great chance at taking the national title this semester.”

The Bucs will compete in the regional championship match against Central Community College (Grand Island, Neb.) at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 44 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
