A Bellville man is in custody following a violent assault Saturday night that led to a multi-agency search and arrest.
On April 12, 2025, around 10:00 p.m., deputies with the Austin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 14000 block of Kidd Lane in Bellville. When deputies arrived, they found a victim suffering from cuts and puncture wounds related to the assault. Austin County EMS responded to the scene and transported the injured individual to a nearby hospital for treatment. The condition of the victim has not been released.
The suspect, identified as 54-year-old Robert William Burt Jr., fled the scene on foot before law enforcement arrived. In response, the Austin County Regional Special Response Team, ACSO K9 “Knox,” and ACSO drone units were deployed to assist in the search.
A coordinated effort led to Burt being located and arrested in a wooded area near the scene. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Austin County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The Austin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is leading the investigation. Officers with the Bellville Police Department and deputies from the Waller County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
