The 14th-ranked Blinn College volleyball team continued to roll in the Blinn Invitational with two wins Friday over Dallas College-Brookhaven and Dallas College-Eastfield at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas.
Both victories were three-set sweeps and improved the Buccaneers to 20-4 overall.
Blinn will end the tournament Saturday with matches against Dallas College-Richland at 11 a.m. and Dallas College-North Lake at 3 p.m. at the Kruse Center.
“I thought the team played well today,” Blinn head coach Terry Gamble said. “It’s always nice to pick up two wins in one day.”
In their first match Friday, the Buccaneers fought past Brookhaven 25-15, 25-22, 25-22.
Sophomore hitter Kierslynn Wright led Blinn with 14 kills, followed by eight from freshman Don’Yah Cosie and six from freshman LaNeah Lara. Freshman setter Darby Nash handed out 20 set assists, and Wright along with sophomore libero Ellie Turner and freshmen Emily Hardee (libero) and Kaylen Kruse (utility) had one service ace apiece.
Defensively, Turned had 26 digs and Hardee added 13. Kruse chipped in 10 along with eight from Wright.
Blinn followed its victory over Brookhaven with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-4 triumph over Eastfield.
Lara and Wright recorded 11 and nine kills, respectively, to lead the Buccaneer offense.

Wright’s NJCAA Division I-leading kill total jumped to 328 following Friday’s matches.
Freshman setter Kelsi Wingo posted 15 assists with Nash tacking on 10.
At the service line, freshman libero Hannah Berg knocked down four aces, and Wright, Hardee, and freshman Taylor Glendening tallied two each.
Turner and Kruse anchored Blinn’s defense with 13 and 11 digs, respectively.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
