CARTHAGE, Texas — The No. 23 Blinn College women’s basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a 73-57 win over Panola College on the road Saturday.
The Buccaneers finished the regular season with an overall record of 17-5, and second in the region with a 13-3 conference record. Next, Blinn will compete in the Region XIV tournament, April 7-10, in Jacksonville, Texas.
“We were very resilient tonight and were down 23-12 in the first quarter to a very good team on the road,” head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “I can’t say enough about our team’s toughness this year, and to finish second in Region XIV is not easy to do. For this class to finish second in back-to-back seasons makes them very special.”
The Buccaneers totaled 14 3-pointers as Keaundra Eddings led the way with six shots from downtown and 20 points. Hailey Atwood was next with 12 points, while Jessica Soders and Alex Bowman each chipped in nine, and Deja Adrian scored eight.
Panola opened the game with a 23-12 lead, but the Buccaneers came back to lead 34-20 at the break. Blinn extended its lead to 56-47 in the third quarter before defeating Panola, 73-57.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
