BRENHAM, Texas — The Blinn College men’s basketball team fell to Panola College, 88-78, to conclude the regular season in the Kruse Center Saturday.

With the loss, the Buccaneers concluded the regular season with a 10-10 overall record and 8-10 conference record. Next, Blinn will compete in the Region XIV tournament, April 6-10, in Jacksonville.

Prior to today’s game, the Buccaneers celebrated Sophomore Day.

“We didn’t get the results we wanted, but I thought our guys competed and played really hard,” head coach Scott Schumacher said. “I thought we had a chance, but had a few ill-advised shots at the wrong time and things didn’t go our way. Overall, I am really proud of the guys and how they played the whole year.”

Bonke Maring led Blinn with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Calvin Carpenter scored 16 points, Tyler Washington recorded 15, Davion Coleman scored 13, and Austin Galuppo put up 10, while Washington put up eight rebounds.

Blinn and Panola played a close first half, but the Ponies grabbed a 45-44 lead at halftime. The Ponies built their lead in the second half to win 88-78.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
