A familiar favorite at the Austin County Fair is getting a fresh new look this year, as the contest formerly known as Floral Design introduces its updated identityโPetal Partners.
While the name may be new, the heart of the competition remains unchanged. Participants can still expect the same creativity, artistry, and attention to detail that have made floral design a standout event at the fair.
What has changed is the structure, designed to make the competition clearer and more accessible for both participants and the public.
Under the Floral Design committee, contests are now divided into two distinct categories. The Fair Cup will feature an individual competition, while Petal Partners will highlight a team-based format, allowing two exhibitors to work together on a shared design. This adjustment helps eliminate past confusion and better showcases the different opportunities available within the program.
The competition remains open to both junior and senior divisions, with participants tasked with designing and executing a fresh floral arrangement and coordinated table display. Entries are judged on design principles, creativity, execution, andโespecially in the team eventโcollaboration.
The updated structure also creates room for future growth, giving organizers the flexibility to introduce additional floral design events as the fair continues to expand. With excitement already building, organizers encourage participants and the community to stay tuned for more updates, including this yearโs theme and entry details.
One thing is certainโwhether competing solo or as part of a team, exhibitors can look forward to another year of bringing beauty and creativity to life at the Austin County Fair.
