As March approaches, schools, libraries, and families across the country are gearing up to take part in this yearโs Read Across America. This year, Read Across America Week runs from March 3โ7, 2025, celebrating books and literacy with themed activities designed to engage students, educators, and communities.
Launched by the National Education Association (NEA) in 1998, Read Across America originally focused on Dr. Seussโs birthday on March 2nd. Now Read Across America is a week-long nationwide movement filled with exciting events intended to spark a love of reading for students.
How Schools and Communities Are Celebrating
Across the country, schools and libraries are planning special events like read-aloud sessions, book fairs, author visits, and storytelling activities. Educators, volunteers, and even local leaders will be reading to students, creating a fun and engaging atmosphere that makes books come to life.
Parents and community members can also get involved by making reading a part of daily lifeโwhether that means picking up a book at home, visiting the library, or simply sharing stories together.
