In a developing situation, former President Donald Trump was abruptly rushed offstage at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, after what appeared to be gunfire. The Secret Service has confirmed that Trump is safe and is currently being examined at a local hospital.

The incident unfolded as numerous shots were reportedly heard, prompting Secret Service agents to quickly secure the area. Video footage showed Trump reacting to the disturbance by touching his ear and then crouching, with visible blood on his face. He was subsequently escorted away in a motorcade, raising a fist as he entered the SUV.

A statement from Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi indicated that protective measures have been implemented, and the situation is now under active investigation by the Secret Service. The Trump campaign also released a statement expressing gratitude to law enforcement and first responders for their swift response, confirming that Trump is fine and receiving medical evaluation.

Law enforcement sources have conveyed that there is no ongoing threat, and the suspect is either deceased or in custody, though specifics remain unclear. It has been confirmed that Secret Service agents did engage with the suspect.

President Biden has been briefed on the incident, according to a White House spokesperson. Congressman Mike Kelley of Pennsylvania, who was present at the rally, mentioned that multiple individuals, including a woman standing nearby, were struck during the event.

Eyewitness accounts, including one from an ER physician who performed CPR on a victim with a severe head wound, described the chaotic scene. The physician initially thought the shots were firecrackers but quickly realized the severity of the situation upon hearing cries for help.

 

 

A medivac helicopter landed at Allegheny General Hospital, transporting an individual from the rally. The identity and condition of the person remain unknown, with a limited police presence observed outside the hospital.

In the aftermath, public figures and potential vice-presidential candidates have taken to social media to express their support and prayers for Trump and the rally attendees. Notable messages came from North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, and Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio, all extending their thoughts and prayers for those affected by the incident.
