On June 23, 2014 Austin County Commissioners Court met in the Commissioners Court Meeting Room, at the Austin County Courthouse with the following present:

(2:07) Proclamations and Special Recognitions

Texas Historical Commission – 2013 Distinguished Service Award Grace Holtkamp, Chairman of the Austin County Historical Commission, accepted the 2013 Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Historical Commission. She explained the requirements for receiving the award and projects the Commission is working on.

(11:57) Judge Bilski introduced Leslie Avila and Lekieth Nunn, students who are part of the Houston-Galveston Worksource program working with Austin County for the summer.

Petitions or Requests from the Public

(12:12) Andy Johnson of Settlers Estates and Settlers Meadows in Sealy asked for clarification on the easements and drainage issues on their property. Judge Bilski suggested he speak with his Commissioner and Charles Kalkomey after the meeting.

(14:25) Barbara Ziegler of San Felipe asked for help with flooding problems in her area. Per Judge Bilski, this will be discussed at the July 15, 2014 meeting on floodplain issues.

(19:02) Consideration and possible action to approve preliminary plat of Pin Oak Creek Estates located in Precinct 2

Charles Kalkomey recommended approval of the preliminary plat of Pin Oak Creek Estates on the conditions that the road dedication for Clens Road and the drainage issue be addressed on the final plat. Mr. Kalkomey and Commissioner Rinn will discuss the need for an easement on the creek. Approved

*Consideration and possible action to renew Disaster Recovery and Debris Management with Crowder Gulf.

*Consideration and possible action to authorize contract for election equipment between Austin County and City of Sealy for Run-Off Election on June 21,2014.

*Consideration and possible action to approve application for required schooling reimbursement for Diana Parker, Court Coordinator for County Court At Law, to be held October 7-10, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas.

Under Item 3 of the May 12, 2014 minutes, there was an initial motion to table discussion with St. Joseph Hospital with Judge Bilski voting to break the tie. Judge Bilski actually voted with Commissioner Rinn and Commissioner Reichardt in opposition. She did not vote to break the tie. The motion failed with a vote of 4-1. The record should be amended to show Judge Bilski voting to terminate discussion and the vote should be amended to show the motion failed 4-1.

(33:42) May Activity Report by Sheriff Jack Brandes.

Sheriff Brandes presented a check for $1,000.00 donated to the Austin County Sheriffs Department by the Austin County Peace Officers Association and reviewed the May Activity Report. Three vehicles have been ordered at a cost of $118,000.00 to be paid out of Forfeiture Funds. Accepted

Commissioner King arrived at 9:43 a.m.

Discussion regarding changing the name of E. Ueckert Road to Hoff Road where it is West of Waak Road only until the 90 degree bend and action as appropriate. A public hearing will be scheduled for July 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Notice will be published in the local newspaper and Austin County website. Authorized
