The Austin County 4-H program continues to celebrate the outstanding youth leaders who make a lasting impact on their clubs and community. Each month, the 4-H Spotlight highlights one of the many dedicated County Council officers — young people whose energy, compassion, and commitment embody the 4-H pledge.
This month, the spotlight shines on Sara Fromme, a valued member of the Stars and Stripes 4-H Club.
A True 4-H Spirit
Sara has been part of the 4-H family for eight years and currently serves as a County Council Delegate. Her enthusiasm and reliability make her a role model for younger members. Within her club, she also serves as Vice President, a leadership role she takes great pride in.
When asked about her favorite 4-H project, Sara didn’t hesitate — it’s showing broilers at the Austin County Fair. Last year, her hard work paid off when she placed fourth with her pen of broilers, an experience that taught her how dedication and perseverance truly pay off.
Building Connections and Giving Back
As a County Council officer, Sara’s main goal this year is to strengthen relationships between 4-H clubs and make community service a regular part of council activities. Her favorite project so far has been the Blessing Box Project, where members created pillows and inspirational shirts for breast cancer patients. Sara said she enjoyed the project because it allowed her to have fun while helping others.
Through 4-H, Sara has gained one of the most valuable life skills — time management. Between school, FFA, drill team, and 4-H projects, she’s learned how to balance her responsibilities with enthusiasm and focus.
Looking Ahead
Sara has big dreams for the future. She plans to attend Texas A&M University and pursue a career in engineering — a field that, like 4-H, values innovation, precision, and problem-solving. Beyond her academic goals, Sara has also been a competitive dancer for nine years, a fun fact that highlights her creativity and determination.
Leadership that Inspires
When asked why being a 4-H leader matters, Sara shared a response that truly captures the heart of the program:
“Being a 4-H leader matters to me because it gives me the chance to make a difference in other people’s lives, just like my 4-H leaders have done for me. As a leader, I can help younger members learn new skills, grow their confidence, and reach their goals. Leadership teaches me responsibility and how to be a good role model. I believe that helping others succeed is one of the best ways to make a positive impact on my community, and being a 4-H leader allows me to do that.”
The Austin County Extension Office and 4-H community are proud of members like Sara Fromme, whose leadership and compassion continue to shape the future of 4-H in our area. Stay tuned each month as they introduce more inspiring youth leaders who make Austin County 4-H shine bright!
