The Austin County 4-H program is proud to spotlight Porter Jacob, a dedicated member of the Stars & Stripes 4-H Club who currently serves as a County Council Delegate. Porter has been involved in 4-H for two years and has already made a strong impact through his leadership and service.

Porter’s favorite 4-H project is cattle, an interest that has guided much of his involvement in the program. He is especially proud of serving on his club’s Officers’ Board, an experience that has helped him grow as both a leader and a teammate.

As a County Council officer, Porter’s goals include continuing to build his leadership skills, serving his community and county, forming strong friendships, and growing personally through his 4-H experiences.

Looking ahead, Porter plans to attend Texas A&M University with the goal of becoming an oil and gas petroleum engineer.

Some of Porter’s favorite 4-H memories include attending 4-H leadership camp during the summer, where he gained valuable experiences and made lasting connections. He has also enjoyed working the Coke stand as a community service project, sharing that it created meaningful memories while giving back to the community.

Through 4-H, Porter has developed leadership skills that he knows will benefit him throughout his life. Outside of 4-H, he enjoys playing baseball, football, and golf.

Being a 4-H leader in Austin County is especially meaningful to Porter because of his involvement in raising and showing cattle, as well as being a member of the Livestock Judging Team, which travels across the state throughout the year. These experiences have helped shape his strong work ethic, sense of responsibility, and commitment to agriculture and leadership.
