With the win, the Buccaneers improved to 15-0 overall and 4-0 in region play.

“It was a great team win on the road,” Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “I’m very proud of our players’ ability to handle adversity.”

Leading the way for Blinn were freshman guards Hannah Humphrey and Telisha Brown, who finished with 22 and 21 points, respectively. Freshman guard Makayla Patterson added 11.

Jenkins also made note of his team’s impressive showing beyond the arc as the Buccaneers made 11 3-pointers.

Blinn cruised from start to finish, building a 24-10 edge in the first quarter before taking a 38-24 cushion into halftime.

The Bucs’ win topped off a positive day for the program as Jenkins’ squad moved up five spots in Monday’s NJCAA Division I women’s basketball top-25 poll. Blinn entered the poll at No. 22 on Dec. 13.

“These kids work hard every day in practice and I’m glad we’re getting acknowledged for that,” Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “In the region we play in, we play a tough 18-game conference schedule every year. There are no gimmies any time you play, so the fact we’re 4-0 so far is nice and I think that’s what the selection committee sees.”

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
