LUFKIN, Texas — Blinn College women’s basketball picked up its third straight win after defeating Angelina College by the score of 61-53 on Saturday afternoon in Lufkin.

“It was a great road game against a very good team,” said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. “Our defense and effort was excellent and I am very proud of our young ladies.”

With the win, Blinn’s overall record improves to 13-15 overall and 6-12 in Region XIV conference play.

Ke’Asia Williams led Blinn’s offense with 14 points, while Alanna Spencer followed with 12 and Rayanna Carter was next with 11. Jade Rochelle also put up double-digits points after scoring 10 and Aaliyah Holmes recorded seven points in the victory.

Blinn jumped out to an early 16-9 lead in the first quarter and held a 29-23 lead by the half. Blinn carried the momentum from the first half of the game into the third quarter as the Buccaneers stayed ahead of Angelina 44-39. Blinn outscored Angelina 17 to 14 in the final quarter to walk off the court with a 61-53 victory.

Blinn will return to the Kruse Center on Wednesday, February 28 to take on Jacksonville College for the final home game of the season starting at 5:30 p.m. The men’s basketball team will take the court for its final home game of the season against Jacksonville College following the women’s match.
