BRENHAM, Texas — Blinn College women’s basketball (10-14, 3-9) was unable to catch No. 2 Trinity Valley Community College, falling 83-52 Saturday in the Kruse Center.

“We came out and had some problems scoring and taking care of the ball in the first half, and you cannot do that against the second-ranked team in the nation,” said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. “I was proud of our second-half effort. The good thing about basketball is that we get to play again on Wednesday.”

Alexus Brigham led Blinn’s offense with 16 points, Alexus Wykoff followed with 13 and Kristine Ezimako posted nine.

Trinity Valley gained early momentum to kick off the first quarter with a 17-6 lead. By the halftime, the Lady Cardinals led 46-15.

Blinn picked up the pace in the third and fourth quarters, matching Trinity Valley with 37 points. Trinity Valley held a 63-28 lead heading into the fourth quarter before Blinn outscored Trinity Valley 24-20 in the final quarter.

Blinn will head on the road to face Coastal Bend College on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 5:30 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
