Sealy Senior Resource Event for Austin County Families

Sealy Senior Resource Event for Austin County Families

Seniors, caregivers, and families in Austin County will have an opportunity to learn about important aging and caregiver resources during an upcoming outreach event hosted by the Area Agency on Aging of the Houston-Galveston Area Council.

The free community event will take place Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Meals on Wheels of Austin County, located at 915 Frydek Road in Sealy.

The event is designed to help Austin County seniors and caregivers connect directly with specialists who can provide information about senior services, caregiver support programs, in-home assistance, benefits counseling, meal services, home modifications, and other aging resources available in the area.

For many families, becoming a caregiver happens unexpectedly following an illness, injury, surgery, or the gradual challenges that come with aging. Without preparation, families can quickly feel overwhelmed trying to manage medical appointments, medications, transportation, meals, finances, and daily care responsibilities.

Organizers say events like this help families better prepare for caregiving before a crisis occurs. Learning about available programs and support services ahead of time can help reduce stress, prevent caregiver burnout, and give families a better understanding of the resources available to help loved ones remain independent and safe at home.

The event will also give residents an opportunity to share what services and support they feel are still needed within the community.

The Area Agency on Aging, which operates under the Houston-Galveston Area Council, works to help adults age 60 and older remain independent, safe, and supported while living in their own homes. The agency assists families throughout the region by connecting them with programs and resources tailored to their individual needs.

Staff members will be available during the Sealy event to answer questions, explain available services, and guide residents toward programs that may help improve quality of life for seniors and caregivers alike.

The event is open to the public, and anyone interested in senior resources in Austin County, caregiver assistance, or aging support services is encouraged to attend.

For additional information, residents can visit the Area Agency on Aging of the Houston-Galveston Area Council website or call 1-800-437-7396.
