On April 5th, 2023 at approximately 2:30 pm, Sealy PD received a call reporting a robbery in progress in the 400 block of Hwy 90 W. In an impressive display of efficiency and speed, patrol officers began arriving on location within just 16 seconds of receiving the call.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a good samaritan had witnessed the robbery and intervened. Together with the victim, they were holding the suspect, identified as Travis Wells (18) out of Houston TX, on the ground. Wells was promptly arrested for robbery, and officers discovered that he had an open warrant of arrest for aggravated robbery of an elderly person 65+ out of Harris County.

The victim, who owns the business that was being robbed, expressed his gratitude that the incident occurred in Sealy TX, where a witness intervened to “save my life,” and where police officers showed up from every direction to assist. This is a testament to the dedication and quick response of Sealy Patrol Officers and the collaborative effort between the department, TXDPS, Wallis PD, and ACSO Deputies in ensuring the safety of our community.

Although the suspect was caught and arrested, the investigation is still ongoing. They are still looking for a possible second suspect who may have been involved in the robbery. Sealy PD urges anyone with information about this incident to come forward and assist in bringing the perpetrator to justice.  Sealy PD also reminds everyone to remain vigilant, be aware of your surroundings, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
