The Sealy City Council, in a decisive move to address the growing needs of the community, has granted the Sealy Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) the responsibility of overseeing and funding a new parking expansion project at the W.E. Hill Community Center. This much-needed expansion is designed to alleviate the community’s ongoing parking challenges, ensuring greater convenience and accessibility for residents and visitors alike. After thorough evaluation and consideration, the construction contract has been awarded to ML Contracting Inc., a highly regarded San Antonio-based firm known for its expertise in commercial contracting and construction services. With their experience and dedication to quality, ML Contracting is poised to bring this vital project to fruition, helping to support Sealyโs continued growth and development.ย
The existing parking at the W.E. Hills Community Center will undergo a complete renovation, increasing its capacity by 68 spaces to a total of 102 parking spots. Initiated in 2022, this project is designed to accommodate the anticipated growth of local events and sports activities. Construction commenced in January and is projected to conclude by the end of March 2025, contingent on favorable weather conditions. In addition to the community center’s expansion, downtown Sealy is set to benefit from a new parking lot on Second Street. This new parking development will introduce 26 new parking spaces, supporting the burgeoning retail, service, and restaurant sectors. These additional parking spaces will help downtown accommodate future events.
The Sealy Economic Development Corporation, in partnership with the City of Sealy, continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to the growth and prosperity of the community by strategically investing in projects that not only enhance the city’s infrastructure but also elevate the overall quality of life for residents, foster a thriving business environment, and ensure Sealyโs continued success as a vibrant and dynamic place to live, work, and visit.
