Sealy Police officers responded to a crash involving a commercial motor vehicle and an SUV on Monday morning, resulting in the arrest of a driver who fled the scene on foot. According to the Sealy Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 7:21 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near mile marker 719. Upon arrival, officers discovered the driver of the SUV had left the scene before authorities arrived.

 

 

A coordinated search effort by law enforcement led to the apprehension of the suspect, identified as Cesar Gabriel Claros Elvir, 26. He was taken into custody and charged with Collision Involving Personal Injury or Death, a state jail felony. Sealy Police were assisted by the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, Sealy ISD Police Department, Austin County Emergency Services District No. 2, and Austin County Emergency Medical Service.
