The Blinn College softball team dropped a doubleheader to No. 23 Galveston College on Saturday in Galveston, Texas.
The Whitecaps took both ends of the Region XIV South twin bill 8-1 and 7-6.
Blinn is now 5-17 overall and 2-4 in the South.
Galveston raced out to a 6-0 lead through two innings in game one before the Buccaneers got on the board in the third.ย
Sophomore ย accounted for Blinn’s lone run with a sacrifice fly.
The Bucs finished with five hits and drew five walks.
Sophomore pitcherย Paige Buntingย took the loss after working 4 2/3 innings.
Blinn looked poised for a split in the finale as it led 5-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth frame. Galveston would instead rally with four runs, and held on as the Bucs staged a rally of their own in the seventh.
Boetjer paced her team with a two-hit, five-RBI ballgame which included a double and a two-run home run in the first.
Blinn finished with 12 hits.ย
Sophomoreย Darian DeLeonย had three hits, followed by two apiece for freshmenย Halle Scheelย andย Cadence Wiese. Freshmanย Annie Beckendorfย doubled and drove in a run.
Sophomoreย Bella De Los Santosย was the pitcher of record for the Bucs after lasting 4 1/3 frames.ย
Blinn’s season continues with a South twin bill at Lamar State College-Port Arthur at 1 p.m. on Monday in Port Arthur, Texas.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 49 national championships since 1987.
