he 16th-ranked Blinn College men’s soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Angelina College in Region 14 play Tuesday in Lufkin, Texas.

The Buccaneers fell to 5-2-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the region standings.

Blinn peppered the Roadrunners with 13 shots, including seven on goal, but could not break through against Angelina goalkeeper Iori Tanaka.

“We created more than enough chances to get a result this evening, so it’s hard to believe we’re walking away with nothing,” Bucs head coach Michael McBride said. “This sport throws games like this at you every so often, so we have to take it on the chin and move on.”

The Roadrunners snapped a scoreless tie with a goal in the 45th minute of play, and added an insurance tally on a penalty kick in the 66th.

Angelina finished with 10 shots, including five on target.

The Bucs held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.

Blinn sophomore keeper  made seven saves.

The Bucs return to the pitch for a region road clash with No. 14 Coastal Bend College at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, in Beeville, Texas. 

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 53 national championships since 1987.
