JACKSONVILLE, Texas — The No. 14 Blinn College men’s basketball team defeated Jacksonville College, 95-61, for its fifth straight win Wednesday night on the road.

With the win, the Buccaneers are now 5-0 overall and in conference.

“Anytime you get a road win in this region, it is a big win,” said head coach Scott Schumacher. “All of our players got to play, and I am happy that they were able to play basketball at a highly competitive level regardless of the score.”

Davion Coleman paved the way to the 34-point victory by scoring a season-high 39 points. Austin Galuppo also reached double-digit points with 12.

The Buccaneers built a 44-28 lead in the first half and held on to it for the remainder of the game. Blinn added 51 points to the board in the second half for the 95-61 win.

Next, the Buccaneers will return home to compete against Lamar State College-Port Arthur in a conference game on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 4 p.m. in the Kruse Center.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com
