Eleventh-ranked Blinn College volleyball earned its fourth win of the season with a road sweep of Temple College on Wednesday in Temple, Texas.

The Buccaneers swept the Leopards 25-18, 25-18, 25-9 to improve to 4-1 on the season.

“I thought we played really well in the third set, and I think it showed the girls our potential as a team and what we can do when we follow a game plan,” Blinn head coach Terry Gamble said. “I thought our blocking was good tonight with strong play from our middles.”

Freshman right-side hitter Kellen Dorotik led the Bucs’ offensive attack with 11 kills. Sophomore middle blocker Taylor Glendening had six kills, and sophomore middle blocker Brooke Pattschull and sophomore outside hitter Jaedyn Newman chipped in five apiece. Freshman setter Elizabeth Tyner had a pair of aces from the service line.

On defense, freshman libero Cierra Pesak posted a team-high 17 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Lexi Higgins had one solo block and three block assists.

Next up, Blinn begins its second tournament of the season when it faces Dallas College Mountain View in the Western Texas Tournament at noon on Friday, Aug. 25, in Snyder, Texas. The Bucs will also face North Central Texas College at 4 p.m. on Friday. Blinn’s stint in Snyder ends with tournament matches against Western Texas College at 11 a.m. and Seminole State College at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 44 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
