Four Blinn College volleyball players earned individual honors after leading the Buccaneers to four victories last week, including wins over nationally-ranked Hill College and Salt Lake (Utah) Community College.

Tawnee Luafalemana, Alyssa LaMont and Jordyn Keamo earned all-Region XIV South Conference player of the week honors after leading the Buccaneers to a 4-1 record, including a 3-1 mark at the Blinn Invitational Tournament. The trio earned all-tournament honors alongside teammate Trinity Alualu.

Luafalemana earned player of the week honors after posting 43 kills with a .372 hitting percentage. Her week included 13 blocks, seven digs, 24 assists and three aces in four matches.

LaMont was named libero of the week after piling up 63 digs, 14 assists and three aces. Keamo earned setter of the week honors after dishing out 72 assists and adding 23 digs and 11 aces. She was also named top libero at the Blinn Invitational.

Don't Get FrustratedAlualu tallied 42 digs in the Buccaneers’ four matches, including 13 apiece vs. Salt Lake and Tyler Junior College, to earn all-tournament honors. She also recorded 36 digs and nine blocks.

The defending national champion Buccaneers opened the week by sweeping Lee College 3-0 in Baytown, then winning their first two tournament matches against Hill and Salt Lake. Fourth-ranked Tyler ended the Buccaneers’ season-opening win streak before the Bucs bounced back with a sweep of Hillsborough Community College.

The No. 1-ranked Buccaneers will be in Beeville tonight for a 6 p.m. match at Coastal Bend College.
