The Fort Bend Regional Vegetable Conference is marking a milestone this year, celebrating its 40th anniversary on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Hosted at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds, Building C (4310 Hwy 36S, Rosenberg, TX), the conference is a must-attend event for farmers, backyard gardeners, and agricultural enthusiasts across the region.
This annual gathering offers a full day of valuable insights, exciting presentations, networking opportunities, and hands-on learning. Highlights include expert speakers, engaging exhibitors, door prizes, and a BBQ lunch included with registration. Licensed pesticide applicators can also earn five Continuing Education Units (CEUs), covering General, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and Laws & Regulations (L&R). Please note, however, that these CEUs do not apply to structural licenses.
The conference runs from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with check-in beginning at 7:15 a.m.
This year’s conference offers a lineup of industry experts covering essential topics for growers:
-
- Dr. Larry Stein: Melon Production for Small Acreage & Backyards (1 General CEU)
- Dr. Kevin Crosby: Developing Locally Adapted Vegetable Cultivars & Small Growers Cultural Practices (1 IPM CEU)
- Mr. Tom LeRoy: Improving Backyard Vegetable Production (1 General CEU)
- Dr. Mark Matocha: Pesticide Laws & Regulations (1 L&R CEU)
- Dr. Rafia Khan: Integrated Pest Management (1 IPM CEU)
