The Blinn College football coaching staff received 40 National Letters of Intent on National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

“We were really meticulous about this recruiting class to add depth and talent to our roster, so I am really excited,” said Ryan Mahon, Blinn head coach. “We wanted to raise the bar even higher and I think we did a good job of that.”

On the offensive side of the ball, the Buccaneers added depth up front with offensive linemen Brandon Castillo (Clemens), Kenneth Cowart (Klein Collins), Garrett Nickelson (Clear Springs) and Trevin Matthews (North Shore). Quarterback Jaylin Williams (Donaldsonville) could have a chance to contribute in the pocket, while running back Devin McAdoo (Hightower) has a chance to contribute to the running game. Wide receivers Antonio Gage (Madison), Trea Shropshire (Zachary) Xavier Hutchinson (Bartram Trail) and Iverson Westbrook (Yoe) add depth to Blinn’s passing game.

On the defensive side of the ball, defensive backs Jaquay Martin (Mexia), Deangelo Alexander (The Woodlands) and Darius VanDyke (Clemens) will add strength to the team. Linebacker Josh Reed (Heights) and outside linebacker and defensive end Adrian Bowie (East Ascension) could play factors on the field, while cornerback Marco Domio (Heights) will add depth to the secondary.

Kickers Charalambos Pashas and Alec Schroeder will strengthen Blinn’s special teams.

The complete list of defensive signees are: Rodaren Alexander Jr. (DB – Zachary), Stephon Ashby (DB – Chavez), Adrian Bowie (OLB/DE – East Ascension), Hunter Denton (DB – Bridge City), Mykel Gates (LB – Carthage), Devone Hackett (DB – Westbury), Jamarceon Jackson (DB – Cedar Hill), Robert Jackson (DT – Temple), Jake Jones (DE – Willis), Trevion McNeil (DB – Gonzales), Kemon Smith (DT – Landry Walker), Royce Wellington (DT – Estacado), Jermarcus White (OLB/DE – Willis) and Keldric Williams (DE – Timberview).

The Buccaneers finished the season with a 6-4 record and No. 10 national ranking. The Buccaneers posted a 5-2 conference record to earn a share of the Southwest Junior College Football Conference (SWJCFC) championship. Blinn finished its season at the El Toro Bowl in the Buccaneers first bowl game appearance since 2011.
