Faith Academy ended its amazing baseball season with a loss on Friday, May 9th, after a hard-fought 9-5 loss to Sacred Heart of Hallettsville in the TAPPS Semifinals. The Knights went in with confidence and team spirit. Despite a valiant effort, the Knights were unable to recover from early defensive errors that allowed Sacred Heart to jump ahead.
Senior pitcher Cash Eckermann took the loss on the mound, going four innings and giving up five unearned runs on just three hits. He struck out four and walked two. At the plate, Eckermann also led the offense, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs and drawing two walks.
Initially Faith Academy’s bats were quiet through the early innings, but a fifth-inning surge brought the Knights within a run. However, Sacred Heart tacked on key insurance runs in the seventh. The valiant Knights mounted one last rally in the final frame but sadly came up short.
Offensively, six Knights—Eckermann, Dyllan Olivares, Riley Heyman, Gage Wilson, Dylan Callihan, and Christian Pillow—each tallied a hit. Faith Academy ends their season with a remarkable 13-1 record, marking their first trip to the State Final Four in 17 years.
“We had a great season,” said Head Coach Kenneth Woodley. “Pitching was good enough to win, but the timely errors really hurt us. We just couldn’t get out of our own way today.”
Faith Academy ends its baseball season with both Senior Cash Eckermann and Travis Woodley being honored with All-Tournament Team selections for their outstanding contributions. Congratulations to both of them!
