Despite freezing temperatures and high winds forcing most track teams to miss their first meet in February, Faith Academy’s track team made an impressive showing at the Leopard Relays, hosted by La Grange High School on Thursday, February 27th. The event included athletes from Bellville, La Grange, Columbus, Madisonville, Schulenburg, and five other schools.

Representing the Knights this season are Elizabeth Walker (12), Jackson Dunn (11), Ethan Stegent (11), Daniela Skardenni (11), Jocey Eckermann (11), Hayley Gillen (11), Ryan Miglicco (10), and Anthony Best (10).

Several Knights placed in the Top 6, with the Top 4 finishers earning medals:

  • Elizabeth Walker secured 2nd place in Pole Vault with a height of 8’6″.

  • Ethan Stegent claimed 1st place in both the 3200-meter run (11:01) and the 1600-meter run (5:10).

  • Daniela Skardenni finished 4th in the 1600-meter run (6:38) and 6th in the 800-meter run (2:56).

The combined efforts of Ethan Stegent and Jackson Dunn earned the Knights a remarkable 5th place finish in the team standings out of nine competing schools.

The team will compete next at the “Archie Seals Relays” at Bellville High School on Thursday, March 6, followed by the “Buffalo Relays” in Giddings on Friday, March 7.

Players of the Week honors were awarded to Ethan Stegent and Jackson Dunn for their outstanding performances at the La Grange meet.
