Faith Academy hosted The Brazosport Lady Eagles , the 2nd ranked team in the state in Division 4, on Monday. The Lady Knights jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first when Destiny Interiano hit a three run home run. The Lady Knights added one run in each of the next three innings and two in the fifth. The FA defense made no errors and set the tone early with two great plays at third base by Kaetee Hunt. Destiny Interiano only gave up three hits and no runs in the game. The final score was 10-0.

The next day the Lady Knights traveled to Pasadena 1st Baptist to take on the 5th ranked team in the state for Division IV. After a slow start, the Lady Knights settled in and scored 4 in the second and 5 in the third inning. Megan Flores topped off the third inning scoring with a two run home run. The Lady Knight cruised through the rest of the game by scoring two more runs in the 4th and 5th innings. FA made just one error in the field and Destiny Interiano pitched a one hitter to shut out the Pasadena Lady Warriors. The lone hit came from the lead-off batter for Pasadena. The final score was 13-0.

The third game of the week took place at Angleton Christian. This was a non-district game to keep the Lady Knights sharp. FA again jumped out to an early lead by scoring two runs in the first inning and had a big 8 run second inning. The Lady Knights piled up 12 hits in just 5 innings and scored in every inning. Megan Flores and Jasmyn Trejo combine on the pitching duties and only allowed two runs on three hits. Faith Academy won 16-2. It was a tough and stressful week for the Lady Knights. I was glad to see that the girls were able to step up to the challenge in these big games. The pitching has been great and the defense has been just as good. The girls work hard in practice and have been able to bring it to the games. Sometimes that is easier said than done.

The Lady Knights travel to Conroe on Monday (4/3) for a 4pm game and then travels to Huntsville on Thursday for another 4pm start. Faith Academy is leading their district with a 7-0 record and 16-0 overall record.

Player of the week: Destiny Interiano Junior

Destiny pitched back to back shutout games to two of the top teams in our division. She has also been hitting well by collecting several big hits, but none bigger than the three run home run against Brazosport.
