District 11 Extension Education Spring Conference was held march 29, 2017 in Victoria, Texas.  Attending were 92 members from 11 counties in the District 11 area, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Family and Consumer Science Agents and guests.

Victoria County Extension Education Association members hosted the event at the Victoria Educational Gardens Pavilion.

Air Force Jr. ROTC members presented the flags.  In addition, the Honorable Victoria County Judge Ben Zeller brought greetings to the group.   Attending from Austin County were Annette Balke, Carolyn Balke, Gladys Frank, Jessie Kokemor, and Extension Agent Michelle Allen.  Educational programs were presented on “Food Allergies and Celiac” by jean Heil, Victoria County EEA officer and “Aging Well” by Gracie Walling, Victoria County FCS Agent.

District 11 Awards and recognition were given to District 11’s Texas Treasurer, Carolyn Balke, from Austin County and the Texas Leadership award went to Edna Schroeder from Washington County.  Both members are active and outstanding in their commitment to their clubs, county district and state Extension Education Associations.

85 Year Club Awards went to Bleiberville EEA club of Austin County and the 70 Year Club award went to West End EE club from Austin County.

Certificates and corsages were given to 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 50 year members.  Rosalee Minks and Bonnie Schulz were recognized for 25 years and Lois Schubert for 30 years of membership.

The Cultural Arts Contest was held in conjunction with the meeting.  There were 92 entries.  First place winners from Austin County were Malinda Schramm – monogrammed pillowcase; Bonnie Schulz – Dorothy costume; Debra Kollman – painted rooster; Cindy Slator – decorated frame with rolled paper; Annette Balke – small colorful quilt; Bonnie Schulz – pink and green star quilt; Bonnie Schulz – fall window quilt; Jessie Kokemor – deer feed bag apron; Jessie Kokemor – counted cross stitch wall hanging.  First place winners will advance to the State competition in September.  Second place winners were Joan Buenger – dog house yard art; Debra Kollman – leather purse; Bonnie Schulz – pink and green pillow shams; Geraldine Siptak – decorated Christmas frame; Gladys Frank – crochet lace ribbon necklace; Bonnie Schulz – note cards; Joan Buenger – wedding album; Bonnie Schulz – deer quilt; Joan Buenger – Easter blocks.

Washington County members issued an invitation to the 2017 Training and Planning Meeting.  A courtesy resolution was given by Wharton County.
