CleanSpark will host a community open house in Sealy on Friday, Aug. 14, providing area residents an opportunity to learn more about the company’s planned data center operations and ask questions about the project.
CleanSpark Community Night will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Millheim Harmonie Verein Hall, 4460 FM 949 in Sealy. The event is free and open to the community. Registration is encouraged but is not required. Hinze’s BBQ will provide food during the event.
According to materials prepared by CleanSpark for the event, the open house is intended to address questions involving noise, water use, lighting and the potential economic impact of data center operations. The company also plans to use the event to connect with local vendors, suppliers and potential job candidates.
The event will be organized around several informational stations where attendees can speak with company representatives about specific aspects of the project.
At the sound station, CleanSpark plans to provide information about measures used to manage noise associated with data centers. The presentation states that acoustic studies are used to guide facility design, while equipment placement and enclosures are intended to reduce noise. Sound mitigation is also evaluated throughout the project.
A water station will focus on the cooling system planned for the facility. According to CleanSpark’s presentation, the facility will use a closed-loop cooling system that is filled once and then continuously recirculates the water. The company states that the design does not use evaporative cooling towers and is intended to require low ongoing water use.
Lighting will be addressed at another station. CleanSpark says its plans include directional lighting, shielded fixtures and measures intended to reduce glare and light trespass beyond the property line.
Another portion of the event will focus on data center infrastructure and the role data centers play in services including telecommunications, internet access, banking, streaming, online shopping, cloud services, artificial intelligence, healthcare and other digital systems.
CleanSpark also plans a community and financial information station addressing the company’s anticipated economic role in the area. Event materials identify schools and education, roads and infrastructure, and potential tax impacts as topics to be discussed.
A Local Opportunity Center will provide information for businesses and individuals interested in potentially working with the company. CleanSpark says the project may create opportunities for local vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, service providers, skilled trades and workers during construction and longer-term operations. The company notes in its presentation that participation at the event does not guarantee contracts or jobs.
CleanSpark describes the purpose of Community Night as an opportunity to answer questions, discuss the project with residents and establish communication with the community as development moves forward.
