The City of Wallis has announced the implementation of the CodeRED Mobile Alert app to enhance public safety communications. Through an existing contract with OnSolve LLC, this free mobile app will allow residents and visitors to receive emergency alerts, missing person notifications, and community updates directly to their smartphones.
The CodeRED Mobile Alert app is available for free download on the App Store and Google Play. Wallis Police Chief David Moseley emphasized that the app serves as an additional tool to keep the community informed about safety concerns.
“The app functions similarly to our existing CodeRED notification system. If you have the app installed and are within the affected area of an alert, you will receive a push notification in real-time,” said Chief Moseley.
Residents already enrolled in the CodeRED system will continue to receive voice calls, text messages, and emails. However, the app offers additional flexibility, allowing users to receive alerts while traveling. “For example, if a Wallis resident visits another state that also uses CodeRED, they will receive emergency or community notifications from that specific area. It’s an extra layer of safety for those on the go,” Chief Moseley added.
This expansion of communication channels comes at no additional cost under the city’s current contract with OnSolve LLC.
Additional Features for Enhanced Safety
Beyond emergency and community alerts, the app offers a free 30-day trial of CodeRED Weather Warning, which provides instant notifications for severe weather events such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, and flash floods. Users can customize their settings to receive alerts tailored to their needs.
“With this feature, you don’t have to rely on tornado sirens or check weather reports constantly. The app will send immediate alerts whenever the National Weather Service issues a severe weather warning,” Chief Moseley explained.
Residents are encouraged to download the CodeRED Mobile Alert app to begin receiving notifications immediately. The app is available for free on both the App Store and Google Play.
