The Buccaneers earned the win with 13-8 and 13-4 victories in the two-round match.

Blinn is now 3-1 in National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) play.

“We did what we were supposed to do and got a good win for us,” Buccaneers head coach Aaron Kapiko said.

Competing for Blinn were sophomore Austin Ray and freshmen Hayden WhitakerKhanh DeweyShawn Fox, and Adam Laamoumi.

The Buccaneers will face the University of Kentucky White in a Valorant tilt at 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17. Blinn esports will see other action this week starting with an Overwatch match against Colorado College at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11. The Buccaneer Overwatch team will also battle St. Ambrose College at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, while Blinn’s Super Smash Bros squad will take on the University of Guam at 7:30 p.m., also Thursday.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
