The Buccaneers won the best-of-three series 2-1 and improved to 4-1 on the season.

“It was a nailbiter of a series,” Blinn assistant coach Kyle Murton said. “It was not our best match by far and we made a lot of unforced errors, but overall, it was a good match and my players stayed strong mentally and we were capable of coming back from the brink of a loss.”

Competing for the Buccaneers were sophomores Christian Ekpenike and Brett Fahrenholz, as well as freshmen Jacob Starr and Clay Herd.

Blinn will play its next Super Smash Bros match when it faces Mid-American Christian University at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27. The Buccaneers will compete in a Rocket League Match against West Virginia University at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24. Also Monday, Blinn will take on the University of New Orleans Black in a Valorant tilt at 6:30 p.m., and will face Stone Child College in an Overwatch match at 8 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
