BRENHAM, Texas — Blinn College women’s soccer (4-7, 2-6) fell behind early against No. 2 Tyler Junior College and couldn’t recover in a 9-0 loss on Friday night at Rankin Field. 

Karson Funderburk and Yadira Grimaldo led Blinn’s offense with one shot on goal each, while Hope Hillhouse and Abigail Ritter led the Buccaneers’ defense with one save each. 

The Apaches showed their strength early, scoring three goals in the first 11 minutes of play. Tyler scored in the first minute, seventh minute and on a corner kick in the 11th minute to lead 3-0. The Apaches scored two more goals in the 20th and 32nd minutes to take a 5-0 lead at the halfway mark. 

Tyler added four more to the scoreboard in the second half, scoring in the 49th, 63rd, 87th and 89th minutes. 

Next, the Buccaneers will compete against Jacksonville College on Sunday, Oct. 6, at noon at Rankin Field. The No. 18 Blinn College men’s soccer team will take the field against Jacksonville at 2 p.m. to finish the doubleheader.
