The Buccaneers won the best-of-three matchup with the lineup of sophomore Austin Ray and freshmen Hayden WhitakerShawn FoxAdam Laamoumi, and Khanh Dewey

Blinn was set to face Kennesaw State University Gold in the round of 16 on Sunday but advanced via forfeit. The Bucs will now compete in the tournament’s double-elimination round as one of the remaining eight teams. Blinn takes on Texas A&M later this week, with a time and date yet to be decided.

Up next for the Bucs is the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) Varsity Premier Overwatch tournament. The 11th-seeded Buccaneers take on No. 6-seed Kennesaw State at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15. 

Blinn Overwatch will also play its final NJCAA Esports regular-season bout when it battles Jackson College at 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18.

In other postseason play, second-seeded Blinn Rocket League will open the NACE Varsity Plus East 1 Conference playoffs with a matchup against sixth-seeded University of Missouri Club at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 14.

Blinn’s Super Smash Bros team enters the NACE West-Central Conference playoffs as the second seed and will face off against third-seeded Texas Wesleyan University at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 15.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
