The Blinn College women’s soccer team fell to 13th-ranked Navarro College in its Region XIV opener Friday in Corsicana, Texas.

The Bulldogs earned a 3-0 victory to drop Blinn to 3-2 overall (0-1 Region XIV) on the year.

“Fouling in our defensive third and goalkeeping errors cost us this game,” Buccaneers head coach Alexandria Jackson said. “Navarro is a good enough team to capitalize on our mistakes. We will need our freshmen to grow up quickly in order to improve.”

Blinn outshot Navarro 11-6 and had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks, but was unable to convert its chances into goals.

The Bulldogs scored in the 17th, 31st, and 69th minutes.

Up next, Blinn will host Northeast Texas Community College for a region match at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, at Rankin Field inside Hohlt Park in Brenham, Texas.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 44 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
