The Blinn College women’s soccer team earned a 6-0 shutout of Dallas College North Lake on Thursday, Aug. 24, at Rankin Field inside Hohlt Park in Brenham, Texas.

With the win, the Buccaneers are now 2-1 overall.

Six players scored for Blinn while six players also accounted for assists. The Bucs have totaled 19 goals this season.

“We’re obviously having great success offensively, which I like to see, and we’re getting goals from a lot of different areas,” Blinn head coach Alexandria Jackson said. “We’re trying to focus on developing good habits and doing the right things all of the time, and we still have room for improvement, but I’m excited about how we’ve started the season.”

The Bucs built a 5-0 lead by halftime. 

Sophomore forward Haylee McBride opened the scoring in the sixth minute when she netted an assist from sophomore midfielder Rileigh Toner. In the 10th minute, freshman midfielder Eleanor Sargeant gathered an assist from sophomore forward Emeyda Cruz and scored.

In the 19th minute, freshman midfielder Elizabeth Carnes linked up with sophomore midfielder Brianna Hoffman, who made it 3-0 with a shot around a North Lake defender.

In the 31st minute, Hoffman assisted freshman forward MaKayla Police’s goal, and Police later fed freshman midfielder Annika Murdoch for a goal in the 34th minute to make it 5-0.

Late in the second half, Blinn closed the scoring when freshman midfielder Samantha Rodriguez assisted freshman midfielder Annaliese Rodriguez’s goal.

“We got a lot of looks for a lot of different players,” Jackson added. “It’s good when everybody can get involved like they did today.”

Blinn outshot the Blazers 27-1.

Freshman goalkeeper Madison Ortiz earned the shutout victory for the Bucs.
