The Blinn College Smash Bros. Ultimate esports team is continuing to show improvement despite a two-match losing streak.

Blinn lost 2-0 last Friday to Texas A&M University-San Antonio, putting its season mark at 1-2. The team will take on Dallas Baptist University on Friday.

“It was a lot closer series than last week,” coach Aaron Kapiko said. “They are still working hard to improve.”

Team members are Scott McPherson (Forney, Texas), Culley Wright (Bryan), Justin Stanley (Cleburne, Texas), and Bishop Jackson (Conroe).

Blinn kicked off its esports program this fall as a member of the National Association of College Esports, competing against two-year colleges and four-year universities. It is one of the few community colleges in the region which offers esports scholarships.

Its Overwatch team, 7-1 on the season, will take on Wayland Baptist University tonight and Western Kentucky University on Thursday. The Rocket League team, 7-1 and tied for the group lead, plays Oklahoma City University on Tuesday. The 3-0 Valorant esports team plays Texas A&M University-San Antonio on Wednesday.
