Blinn College Men’s Soccer Team Loses 2-1 To Angelina College

Angelina scored first in the 20th minute on a free kick and extended its lead to 2-0 on a penalty kick just before halftime.

The Buccaneers came out aggressively in the second half, scoring in the 61st minute when sophomore Stefan Fevrier Sildor got a tap-in on a set piece with passes from Felix Mesquita and Joshua Ferrel. It was Fevrier Sildor’s 15th career goal.

“Stefan has begun to get in a really good vein of form,” assistant coach Rudy Roediger said. “He’s doing the dirty work of making other people’s jobs easier in the attack, and tonight he was the beneficiary of other people’s plays.”

Less than a minute later, Fevrier Sildor appeared to tie the score on a pass from Alex Ramirez, but a late offside flag wiped away the goal.

“Winning on the road is not easy. We battled and nearly found a way to get a good result against a top-20 team,” said Roediger. “While we faced adversity, this group showed great character and battled through to the end.”

Blinn continued to apply pressure and almost scored on free kicks by Israel Macias MartinezMarco Del Vecchio, and Fevrier Sildor. Angelina was whistled for 11 fouls in the second half.

Goalkeeper Kevin Pena had three saves for Blinn.

The Bucs will host No. 17 Coastal Bend on Wednesday at Rankin Field in Hohlt Park. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
