The Blinn College District recently held a pinning ceremony to celebrate eight graduates from its Surgical Technology Program, marking their successful completion of a demanding two-year journey and recognizing their readiness to serve as essential members of surgical teams. The 2025 graduating class includes Victoria Bachmann (College Station), Marcos Quintero Candela (Bryan), Aleydis Bello Dorantes (Bryan), Hannah Carlson (Round Rock), Hanna Eady (Dallas), Krystal Heinecker (Bryan), Abby Karl (Victoria), and Katie Smith (Flower Mound). Each graduate completed a comprehensive curriculum that included classroom instruction, laboratory work, clinical observation, and hands-on operating room experience.

Blinn’s Surgical Technology Program is based at the RELLIS Academic Complex at Texas A&M-RELLIS and is designed to prepare students for real-world healthcare environments. The program emphasizes technical skill development and patient safety through access to advanced simulation labs and immersive clinical experiences. Surgical technologists play a key role in the operating room, assisting surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses while ensuring that equipment functions properly and procedures are performed under sterile conditions. Students in the program are required to complete over 120 surgical cases across various specialties, gaining clinical experience at facilities such as Baylor Scott & White, CHI St. Joseph Health in College Station and Brenham, Park Hudson Surgery Center, and The Physicians Centre Hospital in Bryan.

Many graduates go on to work at the same facilities where they completed their training. With a median annual wage of $62,480 and Texas ranking second in the nation for demand in this field, surgical technology offers strong employment opportunities. Graduates can find positions in hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, physician’s offices, and even dental offices. The program also serves as a foundation for further advancement in healthcare careers.

Applications for spring 2026 admission to the Surgical Technology Program are open through November 30, 2025. More information is available HERE. Registration for the fall 2025 term is also currently open at www.blinn.edu.
