Amid concerns of shortfalls in revenue sources for the county the Austin County EMS has asked for a 13 percent increase in their budget.  EMS Director Ron Dille said the reason for the increase was due to being instructed to create figures for going to full-time vs. part-time staffing.

“You have asked now for years to go to full time service so, that’s what this budget reflects.”

Commissioner Reese Turner was the most vocal on the proposed increase.  “It’s hard to get my head around a thirteen percent increase when…when nothing else in this county is going to go up anywhere near that, it’s hard for me to get my head around.”
