The Blinn College esports Call of Duty team earned a victory over Glen Oaks Community College on Wednesday, while the Buccaneer Overwatch squad fell to the University of Texas-Dallas.

In an NJCAA Esports Call of Duty matchup, Blinn knocked off Glen Oaks 3-0 in a best-of-five series. The victory pushed the Bucs to 4-1 in NJCAAe play and into third place in the Premier Series standings.

“I’m proud of a strong bounce back after the past few weeks,” said assistant coach and Call of Duty manager Ryan Lucich. “We’ve been slowly improving, and hopefully we can peak once again as we come closer to playoffs. We have some really big tests both on Wednesday and next week, and we feel well prepared for them.”

Competing for Blinn were David RodriguezWesley KingLandon Campos, and Logan Rivera.

Blinn’s Overwatch team suffered its first collegiate league setback of the fall with a 3-0, best-of-five loss to UT-Dallas in National Association of Collegiate Esports action.

The Bucs are now 5-1 in the West-Central 2 Conference and 9-1 overall between NACE and NJCAAe.

“Our match tonight was our biggest game of the semester in the NACE regular season, and we have been preparing for UT-Dallas for weeks now knowing that they would be our strongest opponents,” said assistant coach Kyle Murto, who oversees the Overwatch team. “We made a lot of adjustments in anticipation of their playstyle, as well as adjustments due to recent patch changes in the game. While these changes were effective, and we were able to put up a solid fight at times — specifically in the third map — it still wasn’t enough this time around.”
