The victory pushed the Buccaneers to 18-2 overall and 7-2 in conference play. Coastal Bend fell to 2-19 and 0-10 in the conference.
After taking a 16-14 lead into the second quarter, Blinn pulled away for good and led 37-23 at halftime. The visitors’ lead swelled to 55-32 by the end of the third quarter.
“It was a good road win,” Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “It was nice to get to play all 12 people today. This time of year, the rotation can get shorter and it’s good to see those players who practice hard every day get solid minutes.”
Freshman guards Jakoriah Long and Hannah Humphrey led Blinn with 10 points apiece. Fellow freshman guard Makayla Patterson added nine and sophomore wing Deja Adrian and freshman guard Skylar Barnes each tallied eight.
The Buccaneers will host region foe Paris Junior College at 4 p.m. Monday at the Kruse Center in Brenham.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
