Kaley Kaspar scored two goals to help lead the Blinn College women’s soccer team (5-7, 3-6) to a 3-0 shutout over Jacksonville College on Sunday afternoon at Rankin Field.
“It was nice to get the shutout and it was a great bounce-back victory so I am pleased,” said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach.
Blinn totaled 12 shots on goal as Kaspar led the way with three for two goals. Karson Funderburk scored one goal and recorded one assist for the Buccaneers, while Carla Garcia and Kajol Prasad each came up with an assist.
Hope Hillhouse tallied eight saves in 90 minutes to record the shutout.
Blinn held a 1-0 lead at the half after Funderburk assisted Kaspar in scoring a goal in the 43rd minute. Returning from the half, Garcia quickly assisted Kaspar in Blinn’s next goal in the 45th minute. Blinn took a 3-0 lead when Prasad passed the ball to Funderburk to score in the 88th minute.
Next, Blinn will travel to face Northeast Texas Community College on Friday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
