Three Blinn College students were recognized for their work to bring Blinn’s theatre productions to life at the U.S. Institute for Theatre Technology – Southwest (USITT-SW) Regional Winter Symposium at Texas A&M University.
Gabriel Arias (Hempstead) was awarded the Certificate of Achievement in Stage Management for his work in “Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka.” Jacqueline Kana (Sealy) was awarded honorable mention for her costume design for “Sleeping Beauty,” and Liesl Hardin (Deer Park) presented her costume technology project on the design and construction of false teeth for Mr. Hyde in “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.”

ACBS animated gifBlinn Professor Kevin Patrick, director at-large on the USITT-SW Board of Directors, was nominated for vice president of communications and designated chair of the USITT-SW Operations Handbook Committee.

Blinn College graduate Koryn Weiman (Brenham) hosted a presentation on her young career in stage management. Students and faculty also attended lectures and hands-on workshops.

Blinn College will host the 2018 USITT-SW Winter Symposium.

The Blinn-Brenham theatre arts season, “A Year of Transformations,” continues Feb. 19-22 with “Pygmalion” by George Bernard Shaw. The performance will be Blinn’s entry in the 2015 Texas Community College Speech and Theatre Association Play Festival.
