All Aboard…..Sealy opened the Holiday season with the 28th Annual Fantasy of Lights Celebration this past week end. The theme this weekend was Polar Express giving reference to a popular Holiday film. The weekend was packed with live entertainment, arts and crafts booths, food vendors, a barbecue cook-off, softball tournament, and the Kids Fantasy event with crafts, live snowfall and a special appearance of that favorite man from the North Pole.
The weekend was topped off with the annual Fantasy of Lights Parade and Tree Lighting ceremony. Visitors and locals were able to enjoy the festivities and experience the celebration of one of Sealy’s Historical sites. The Liedertafel celebrated 100 years this weekend. Located close to the B&PW Park. The Liedertafel has been home to many celebrations throughout the years. Another event Fantasy goers were able to experience was the Sealy Historical Society’s Christmas Tour of Homes.
Children and adults were able to enjoy the festivals vendors centered around Levine Park and Historic Downtown. Whether you were looking for a snowball fight or that special gift there was something for everyone throughout the weekend.
Beginning on Thursday night you could hear Christmas carols coming from Main Street. Vendors set up to showcase their specialties as local talents sang favorite Christmas songs. Friday night kicked off the Barbecue cook-off. By Saturday morning Sealy was brimming with Christmas Cheer.
Saturday night the Fantasy of Light Parade began with The Knights of Columbus Color Guard presenting the colors. As bands, floats and cars donned with thousands of lights trickled through the streets of Sealy, parade watchers were able to get the true feeling of Christmas. The topper to the Parade was the appearance of Santa straight from the North Pole.
